Storytelling Fellowship––Year-long,
Part-time The Fellow will work alongside LP staff, particularly the Media & Storytelling Manager, to develop and implement communications strategies and design visual content that engages our growing and diverse community of creative change agents. The ideal candidate is someone who wishes to develop a deeper knowledge of storytelling as a form of strategic communications and to gain tangible experience in writing, social media, and digital marketing.
This position reports to the Media & Storytelling Manager. Position responsibilities will include the following:
Content Collection & Creation
● Work alongside Media & Storytelling manager to interview and engage with The LP community to develop and produce original and engaging stories shared through print, web, and social media
● Design digital assets to supplement LP communications, programming, and development initiatives as needed
● Update and maintain website content, with a particular focus on The LP’s blog page
Social Media Strategy
● Support Media & Storytelling Manager in maintaining/updating organization-wide social media calendar to incorporate organizational programs, events, campaigns, etc., and ensure consistency and diversity in content 1 Email Marketing
● Support the promotion of institutional announcements and news
● Maintain database of media and marketing contacts
● Track analytics and KPIs related to social media and email marketing
General Company Activities
Given the nature of our team and our work, there are some activities in which everyone participates, including:
● Helping with fundraising and community-building events
● Preparing materials for programs; joining in advocacy and outreach efforts related to events
Qualifications
● This fellowship is designed for an upper-level undergraduate or rising graduate student
● Those with a journalism or communications-related degree focus are encouraged to apply
● Superior writing and copy editing skills an absolute must
● Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and Illustrator)
● Strong interest in contemporary artists, art practices, and/or arts organizations and belief in the power of the arts to transform individuals and communities
● Comfort with a range of community development topics beyond the arts, such as racial justice and health equity
● Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
● Fluency in Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, including stories features
● Familiarity with WordPress, MailChimp, Google Suite, Youtube, Google Adwords and Analytics
● A positive outlook and sense of humor is a must!
Compensation
This year-long, part-time fellowship (1,000 hours total to be spread across the year) comes with a stipend of $16,500, commuter benefits, and vacation time, along with intentional professional development opportunities. Exact schedule to be confirmed in consultation with applicant and organization.
