Close Up: A Cinematic Initiative for Non-Fiction Filmmakers
Join CLOSE UP, a unique documentary development program for filmmakers from the Middle East and North Africa, for stimulating conversations and debates on three untold stories from Afghanistan, Iraq and Turkey.
Three filmmaking teams will discuss their works-in-progress, creative process and challenges in making documentaries in the Middle East and North Africa. Our region is full of creativity, resistance, and innovation. But it is also an area experiencing immense social and political changes. Our filmmakers explore several topics in their work – the struggle against cultural and political oppression, the fight for justice and gender inequality. Through filmmaking, they confront the existing narrative and stimulate progressive change in their societies. CLOSE UP, through creative and professional training or guidance, supports these artists courageous endeavors.
On Sunday, May 2nd join us for what will surely be a powerful conversation on documentary filmmaking in the Middle East and North Africa.
