Alexia Fontaine has a PhD in Ethnology and History from Université Lille 3, and Université Laval à Québec. She holds a MA in Museum Studies from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and she also completed a MA in Museum Management at Université Lille 3.

A practitioner as well as a theorist, she works in the field of research (lecturer at Université Lille 3, member of GIS-ACORSO, scientific comittee of Musée de la Bretagne à Rennes and Musée d’ethnographie de Bordeaux) and in the field as preservation as a document resource expert (Marithé François Girbaud, Galeries Lafayette, Musée des Arts décoratifs, Modèle déposé, Chanel). Her thesis, defended in 2016, identified and examines the basic characteristics of the fashion museum.
