Parisian Interactive Art in First Year Integrative Studio
In their First Year, students are broadening their understanding of the creative process by mixing research and making. In Ann Attali’s Integrative Studio class, groups of students led multiple tours around different locations in Paris such as St Germain des Près, la Petite Ceinture and le Bois de Vincennes. Each group chose a location and presented it along with accompanying “alternative” guides they had produced, with mediums spanning from audio, print, and anything else which was informative to their own tour. Using the historical and artistic, social and cultural materials they collected in Integrative Seminar, students developed creative narratives and interfaces to see some of Paris most iconic places with a new eye. The exercise allowed students to create their own interactive art, integrated into the urban landscape of Paris, in which the leaders of the tours were the performers and their peers were the audience.
