Affordable Solution for Better Living
Who doesn’t want to see a half human/half furniture “centaur” shed its skin and build some shelves? Théo Mercier & Steven Michel’s Affordable Solution for Better Living at Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers challenges ideas about the democratization of design, providing contemplation and conversation for students and professors who attended. The show facilitated conversation about the nature of design, mass market design, and the space in which design occupies in our everyday lives. Through use of several of Ikea’s most popular items, it’s a critique of the current state of democratized design.
