Guest speakers in Drawing/Imaging

It was an exciting couple of days for students in Jason Glasser‘s Drawing/Imaging class! He invited several guest speakers who all inspired students with their range of methods and processes.

Contemporary photographer Estelle Hanania spoke about her personal artistic projects and her work for brands and fashion revues. Estelle successfully balances a personal artistic practice as well as working for some of the most cutting edge fashion magazines and international brands. In this context, she spoke about the importance of inspiration and her interest in identity and theatricality which are the themes that unify all of her work.
Visual artist Lina Hentgen talked about her practice and creative process, sharing that drawing is the base of all her work. She also discussed her fine art work as part of a duo with Gaelle Hippolyte
and how sharing a studio space evolved into a choice to co-create and share a career.
Finally, sculptor Alban Ficat shared his process of interpreting the 2 dimensional world of comic books and animated cartoons in 3d sculptures. This narrow niche of artistic production requires patience, engineering, creative decision making, and the passion that it takes to produce art objects for an audience of collectors who appreciate precision and sophistication. Alban discussed his path to this specialized career and his love of the characters he interprets.
