Object Redux
Can you find the misplaced object?
In order to broaden their scope of creativity outside of the classroom, First Year students went out on an excursion to well-known French department and grocery stores, in order to find objects to redesign through a set of technical and contextual modifications during their Integrative Studio class.
Students were able to interact with objects and observe people’s reactions to goods and various types of displays, which helped them understand the importance the context in the creation of the value of an item. Playing around the notions of use, scale, material, color or sustainability, students then proposed their revisited version of the objects. This hands-on activity, while fostering the observation skills of the students, also encouraged them to make prototypes to try out their ideas and prepare for their final projects.
