Culture Maps in Creative Team Dynamics

In Creative Team Dynamics class lead by Sabri Ben Radhia, Strategic Design and Management sophomores discussed different meanings and facets of “culture” and what it means to work with international teams. Everyone shared their own experiences and cultural misconceptions. Students learned about the Culture Map, an 8-scale model designed by Erin Meyers, which empowers managers and leaders to improve collaboration, efficiency and productivity in a multicultural professional setting.

The class analyzed scales such as trusting: task-based or relationship-based, communicating: low-context or high context and leading: egalitarian or hierarchical. The students completed the class by designing their own Culture Map models and comparing their results with classmates. This exercise helped students to understand one another better and to acknowledge their different perspectives.
