MAFS Student Work Experience Update: Ana Sanchez
Ana Sanchez, 2nd Year student working at Foundation Azzedine Alaia:
“In February 2019 I started a six months internship at the now Foundation Azzedine Alaïa. As a “collaboratriced’archive” I was in charge of mapping and cataloguing their magazine collection, creating at the same time a visual and a textual documentation. I had the chance to look at, read and touch French magazines such as La Nouvelle Mode (1894-1896), La Mode Illustrée (1905-1906), La revue de Madame(1919-1925), Femme de France (1924-1937), Elle France(1948-2018), Paris Match (1952-2011), Jardin des Modes(1914-1993), among others. As well as international magazines such as Interview (1977-2011), The Face (1989-1998), Six Magazine (1988-1991), i-D (1986-2011) and The Manipulator (1990-1994). After finishing my internship I was hired for another six months on a CDD, hence, for a year I was able to immerse myself in the very construction of an archive, getting to learn not only about thousands of fashion magazines and publications but also archive and collecting practices.”
