‘Savoy Faire’ Collaboration Between Borbonese and Parsons Paris
Last week BFA Fashion Design Juniors presented their “Savoy Faire” collaboration with Italian heritage brand Borbonese . The students have been questioning the resilience of vernacular know-how and local identities in today’s industrialized world, utilizing not only the DNA of Borbonese but also the cooperative Su Trobasciu of women artisans who weave traditional textiles using the ancestral handmade techniques of Sardinia. The students worked to reinterpret the language of the brand to design a new bag and ready-to-wear concept. Despite the circumstances of the Covid19 lockdown, close collaboration was able to continue with the Bornonese team, helping the students to gain real world design experience and understand the value and challenges of working for a historic brand.
