Parsons Paris

About Networking and Alumni

Ahead of their Fall 2020 start at Parsons Paris, incoming undergraduate and graduate students wrote in to ask questions to Virginie Grillet, Director of Careers and Internships at Parsons Paris. Here are the answers to their most frequent questions related to networking and alumni.

Can you tell me more about Parsons Paris Alumni community?

Parsons Paris alumni make up a continually growing community that today represents around 100 graduates. On social media, alumni can be found on Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as on www.thenewschoolnetwork. The alumni community mentors current students upon request for a full academic year.

What kind of advice Alumni do share with current students?
Here’s some advice that alumni frequently give to current students:

  • Learn French and practice with everyone
  • Embrace the culture
  • Speak with other students and listen to different opinions.
  • Make connections to build your French network
  • Travel and be open : don’t be shy and talk to anyone

According to Alumni, what are the best ways to find an internship in Paris?

  • Meet your career counselor early
  • Learn and improve your French
  • Be serious about networking events
  • Network with current students (UG & Grad)
  • Send many applications to increase your chances and meet more companies
  • Draw out a timeline and anticipate all the steps leading to your internship
  • Don’t be afraid to contact people through Linkedin, but only for asking advice, not asking for an internship directly!
  • Use job boards such as Fashionjob.com, Linkedin, Google, your professors & director, words of mouth…
