Raffard – Roussel’s latest Exhibition “Machine Terrestrographique”
First year faculty member Mathilde Roussel and artist Matthieu Raffard, are presenting their latest exhibition “Machine Terrestrographique” at the Galerie Octave Cowbell, in Metz from March 5th to April 3rd 2021.
“The Terrestrographic Machine is a work-tool which was conceived as a way of freeing oneself from standardized tools and dominant uses, by designing a machine that reacts to the environment in which it is installed. Thus the Terrestrographic Machine does not use the same inks and the same papers depending on whether it is in a city, by the sea or in a tropical forest. The machine will be installed in the exhibition as a work-tool and accompanied by works created from materials found directly in the ecosystem that surrounds the exhibition space. This work therefore proposes to develop a new sensitivity to the materiality of the world around us by exploring the possibilities of a continuity between the living and the technical.”
