Internship with Purple Magazine
Alice recently completed an internship at Purple Magazine as a Contributing Photographer.
Alice applied to be a photography contributor for Purple Fashion magazine, which is a position that she found on JobTeaser. Manvi Bhatnagar, from the Purple Institute, contacted her to send examples of her photography work and later to send her photography portfolio, as they were specifically looking for coverages on art and fashion. If the opportunity presented itself, she was told that they would reach out to her.
Micky Francis later contacted Alice from the Purple Institute to do a test shoot at an art exhibition in Paris, titled Mandy El-Sayeghn – Figure One. The experience was very positive, as the team was very communicative and always answered her questions promptly. Alice was directly exposed to the action at her first art exhibition, and was very pleased to be a part of the team. They specified how they wanted the pictures to be taken and showed her prior examples of art coverages also found on their website. Alice’s task was to shoot images in the gallery as part of a feature on the exhibit. Everyone was extremely friendly, even at such an early stage in the process.
Alice’s advice to students looking for internships is to “do research on internships available at the moment and apply to any internship that interests them, because to move forward you have to first put yourself out there. Regardless of the final response, applying to an internship is always an experience that will help you grow and will lead to further knowledge on the subject”.
Alice’s photography will soon be shared online.
