Parsons Paris

Interview with SDM student Elina Vildere

Elina Vildere, 1st year student in Strategic Design and Management, interned at Elie Saab

Q:What was the application process to get your internship?

A: I am always searching for internships on Jobteaser, which is where I found this one. I wrote my motivation letter and sent my CV, then in a few days they responded and wanted to meet me on Zoom for an interview. From then on I got the internship, for one week.

Q: How was the interview, what did they ask you about?

A: The interview was pretty short, although I have to be honest, I was nervous. They wanted to know about me, what I am interested in, what I am passionate about and what I want to do in the future. Another key factor for them was if I can handle pressure. To this I said yes, because I did rhythmic gymnastics so I am used to competing under pressure.

Q:How was the hiring process?

A: They hired me on the spot at the interview.

Q: How was the first day at the internship?

A: The first day was the most intimidating. I arrived and instantly met the other interns. They had already been there for a few days so they explained the basics of the job. Then, a couple of hours later we had the first meeting with the Sales Team.

Q: What did your internship consist of on a daily basis?

A: I assisted in the showroom, so my main duties were to dress and undress the models, as well as, assist the Sales Team and make sure the showroom is well organized.

Q: How was the team you worked with?

A: The team was extremely warm and welcoming. Even though Elie Saab is a big house and experienced in the fashion industry the environment was like a family.

Q: In the future, do you know where you want to intern or what you would like to do?

A: I am very interested in fashion journalism, so if I could intern in a magazine or for a PR agency I would be very happy.

Q: Do you have any advice for people looking for internships in Paris?

A:  I think you need to be proactive and not be scared. If you see an opportunity just apply. My favorite website to find opportunities is Jobteaser. I know there are also quite a lot of opportunities on Linkedin and FashionJobs is another website to look for internships.

Thank you:)
