“Recently, I had the opportunity to intern as a backstage dresser for the PEET DULLAERT Couture Printemps-Été 2023 collection during Paris Fashion Week, Haute Couture. It was an amazing experience where I got to help out with a small part that accumulated to the grandeur of the final show.

When I first arrived in the morning there was the brand’s team setting up and I was greeted by the supervising head, who took the time to ensure that we were respected and prepared as it had been some people’s first interning position. While I haven’t been entirely familiar with the brand before working for them, everything I had experienced while interning established them as one of my new favorites.

They were an incredible team. Large and diverse, both front and back of house, which was not only refreshing but created a very positive work environment.

It was one of the few times that I had seen a brand so committed to the treatment of everyone on staff; they provided breakfast, a lunch break, and always checked in on the comfortability of everyone on staff regardless of position. Backstage was a strict no phone zone before the show to protect the privacy of the models and the collection, and everyone was incredibly respectful of one another. I got to talk to the models, to different people in the staff – both interns and full time employees – and the passion they had for the brand showed in the countdown to the runway. Despite having little experience backstage, they enabled me to help out with tasks that allowed me to put my sewing courses to use in real world application. Interning at this brand that affirmed my love for fashion. Being able to see the collection up close, I could truly commend its craftsmanship and detail!

I really admired this brand for their sustainability mission and commitment to diverse and equitable spaces. They support a variety of care initiatives and had an array of recyclable and waste reductive practices that are very admirable, especially in luxury fashion. I was given three models to dress during the show, and while it was a high stress time for everyone on the team (interns included) everyone worked together to reach the deadline and create the magic of the show that got to be seen on the runway.

To any student who has the opportunity to intern for PEET DULLAERT, I can’t help but recommend them. It will be an incredibly memorable experience, and I would intern for them again in the future.”
