A Journey Through the Schiaparelli Salon
Students from Fashion, Memory, and the Politics of Heritage visited the Schiaparelli Salon in Place Vendome. They met with Parsons Paris Alumni Francesco Pastore, Head of Heritage and Cultural Projects, and Sonya Parsons, a second-year student interning as a heritage assistant, who guided the students through the salon rooms.
On the first part of the visit, Francesco and Sonya guided the students through the different rooms, encouraging them to observe and examine the architectural details and interior design of the spaces and how they facilitated the permanence of the surrealistic legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli; indeed, many of the artwork and furniture pieces that are part of the decoration belonged to her, and the setting creates the atmosphere of being in the living room of her apartment.
Students also had the opportunity to examine the garments displayed for sale by the brand designed by Daniel Roseberry for the latest haute couture and ready-to-wear collection.
