Student Exhibition – Junlian Chen – 合景He Jing
合景He Jing is a fusion of traditional Chinese culture, drawing inspiration from ancient ink landscape paintings and the rich tapestry of my family heritage.
Junlian Chen is a senior Art Media and Technology student at Parsons Paris (class of 2024). He is deeply invested in exploring his cultural heritage and artistic expression and we were delighted and proud to witness the opening of his very first collaborative exhibition, “合景He Jing,” – March 7th, 2024.
“合景He Jing is a fusion of traditional Chinese culture, drawing inspiration from ancient ink landscape paintings and the rich tapestry of my family heritage. Alongside my collaborator Hui Chen, by using salt and silver through the medium of sculpture, we have endeavoured to translate the ethereal beauty of these landscapes and the depth of my familial bonds into a contemporary artistic context.
This is my first series, a tribute to my family roots and beyond. I’m grateful to have worked with many talented individuals, and lucky enough to have had the opportunity to push this project to what you all see now. I really appreciated all the people who were involved in this project for their love and support, truly. It has been an incredible journey.”
