PFW SS25: Internship Testimonials

This fashion week was an exciting time for numerous students to participate in internships for various brands. A selection of students have provided their insights into what it was like, their roles and much more!

Sofia Victoria Buitrago Fraser – SDM 2026

Role: Merchandising + Photoshoot Handling + Showroom

“I have no words to describe my experience working alongside such a reputable, well organized and warm team. Working with Maison Margiela has been one of the best working experiences I’ve had until this point, not only was the team extremely professional but each person was passionate, caring and would take their time to explain what had to be done and how it all worked. As usual within the fashion industry the hours of work are long and it can get overwhelming. However, working with Margiela showed me that even in times of chaos transitions can be smooth and everyone has their role to play to make it happen

Market Week, with buyers from all over the world coming to Paris to see the collection, was both inspiring and rewarding. Here, I was working alongside Menswear in the execution of lookbook fits for each buyer. The work ethic and organization of this transaction was always on point. Their approach to showing the collection and what the models would wear was out of this world, as I mentioned before I had never experienced something as smooth as this until now. I am deeply grateful to have had such an amazing team where not only I learned, but my role was extremely clear from the beginning. Thus, making the transition from a newbie to someone that knows how the brand likes to get things done, and brand ethos so much easier.”

Caitlin Connell – SDM 2026

Role: Backstage Dresser

“I interned as a backstage dresser for a woman owned fashion brand called Wild Rose and Sparrow. Here I got to be immersed in the production of the show itself, meet the designer and gain professional experience in the fashion industry. My duties as a backstage dresser included dressing the models and organizing the clothing racks in preparation for showtime. We had help from the designer Ariana, which created a seamless transition when it was time for the final try ons. My favorite thing about working for Wild Rose and Sparrow was their amazing team and communication they had, they made it a great environment and was overall a really inspiring experience!”

Romina Arjomandi: SDM 2026 (Parsons New York)

Role: Showroom Intern

“During my internship at Retrofête for Paris Fashion Week, I had the incredible opportunity to work in their showroom, assisting with everything from styling to client interactions. I gained firsthand experience in how a high-end fashion brand operates during one of the busiest and most important market weeks in the industry. The experience deepened my understanding of the fashion industry, particularly in handling buyers, presenting collections, and managing the behind the scenes details. It was a pivotal moment in expanding my knowledge  in the luxury fashion market.”
