As the academic year is coming to an end, the students of the MA in Fashion Studies are pleased to present the exhibition Qui Cherche Trouve? which will take place from the 10-14 of May at 3437org. The event, which takes its name from the proverb, “Who seeks shall find,” questions what it means to study fashion today through a series of projects developed during the semester in collaboration with different institutions such as the Ferragamo Museum, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, Palais Galliera and the International Library of Fashion Research.

The venue will host the installation Printed Dialogues where we explore two libraries and two collections for research: the International Library of Fashion Research (Oslo) and the library of Parsons Paris – specifically the collection donated by Palais Galliera Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. This installation puts into dialogue these two paper-centered collections creating narratives for studying fashion and inviting visitors to interact with crucial documents in the study of body politics, beauty ideologies, photography, visual and material culture at large.

Furthermore, the installation Fashioning the Corporate Museum explores the case of the Ferragamo Museum to investigate the role and proliferation of museums and archives in luxury fashion brands. The exhibition invites visitors to learn about four significant exhibitions, and students show their potential in staging the key elements in the culturalization of the fashion industry and its heritage, as well as the commercialization of history.

The questioning of heritage in relation to fashion continues with the installation Alaïa and Schiaparelli: Exploring Fashion Heritage which showcases the ongoing project in collaboration with the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation on the politics of heritage and fashion. Finally, the exhibition concludes with a presentation of Year 2 graduating students who present a three-dimensional translation of their thesis research.
