Internship Testimonial: The Refreshment Club
MA Fashion Studies 2024 graduate Michelle van Eyssen has recently completed an internship at The Refreshment Club as a Creative Assistant. To find out all the insights on her experience, read her testimonial below!
“I interned at The Refreshment Club (TRC) in Paris for six months, working closely with Onur Keçe, the Creative Lead and CEO, to execute creative campaigns, strategic communication, and AI-enabled workflows. My role encompassed brainstorming ideas, art direction, creating visual assets, managing e-commerce tasks, editing and retouching images, and contributing to image creation and writing.
Working at TRC gave me significant responsibility and a wealth of experience across various fields, thanks to the company’s structure, which fostered close collaboration and hands-on learning, offering exposure to diverse tasks and the chance to make meaningful contributions. The work environment was fun, inspirational, entertaining, challenging, and always evolving.
If you’re looking for an internship, be ready to swallow your pride, ask around, and put yourself out there. It might take a thousand attempts, but persistence is key. Connect with people, reach out to them regularly, and keep them updated—opportunities will follow. Remember to smile and be polite; people love helping when they know who and why they’re helping. A personal connection often trumps a faceless job application.
Lastly, our lectures at Parsons KNOW PEOPLE, use their network and be a good student 😉 That’s how I got my internship, and it was a “refreshing” experience, to say the least.”
