Meet our Student Government President
An interview with Or Rosenblum, President of the Parsons Paris Student Government.
Can you briefly introduce yourself: name, background, education and why you’re doing student gov etc?
Hey, my name is Or Rosenblum. I am a 26-year-old Fashion Studies graduate student, from Tel Aviv, Israel. Prior to my studies at Parsons Paris, I have completed a three-year mandatory army service at Israel’s defence forces (IDF), and a bachelor’s degree in Art History at Tel Aviv University. My previous experiences had me realize the profound role participants within an organization have in its social and professional shaping. In an academic context, it is the weighty role students’ have in the shaping of an academical curriculum, and external to class activities by stating their opinion and experience. These factors, which are crucial to the well-being of international students studying abroad, encouraged me to join the student government, along with other international students, and honour the position of president.
What are some things that the student gov have already done at Parsons Paris?
The student government’s mission is to provide an excellent academic experience within our community. We strive to accomplish this mission by listening to the needs of our students, organizing, and sponsoring activities ranging between different themes. The student government of Parsons Paris invites students of any level to share their personal experience by email and by joining our bi-weekly meetings. In addition, we sponsor clubs that students wish to organize such as: “Paris safety and Harassment”, “CODE/HOMEWORK”, and “Museum” club. Furthermore, we are in charge of end of the semester and year-rounds events.
Our daily work includes a constant touch base with the office of student success and the making of surveys which will allow us to better understand our community.
Our previous work includes the Parsons Paris 2018/2019 end of the year event at the “ASTERIX” theme park, introduction of school clubs, and the developing of an organizational structure for this government and the future to come.
What things can we look forward to with student governments involvement in bettering student life at Parsons Paris?
Aside from our regular work, we are currently working on strengthening our relationship with American and local universities in Paris. You can expect, hopefully in the near future, shared events and clubs in particular between the communities of Parsons Paris and the American University of Paris (AUP). In addition, we have created an Instagram page, @studentgovparis, in which we provide weekly digital content about our new clubs, work, and events.
