New York, February 5, 2025—Emmy, Peabody, and two-time Image Award winning film and television veteran Ernest Dickerson has been named the 2025 Dorothy H. Hirshon Artist-in-Residence at the School of Media Studies at The New School.
Dickerson, whose work as a director, cinematographer, and screenwriter of film and television spans almost thirty years, will lead master classes in which he will share his creative process with students. Additionally, the event Exploring Cinema Through the Visionary Lens of Ernest Dickerson invites the public to a screening and Q&A with the renowned filmmaker and cinematographer on Tuesday, February 25. The presentation will be followed by a reception with the artist.
“I am thrilled to welcome Ernest Dickerson to The New School. His vision has brought to life and shaped the stories of many notable films and TV series that span genres, mediums, and audiences.
