This clinical workshop will present the foundational principles of Dramatic Dialogue as they have been elaborated by Atlas and Aron following the long tradition of development, beginning in the work of Sándor Ferenczi, and through such clinicians as Jung, Searles, McDougal, Mitchell, Bion, Bleger, Ferro, Grotstein, Lothane, and others.Atlas and Aron will elucidate the metaphors of drama and theatre as pertaining to therapeutic action and therapeutic traction. They will clarify how a relational emphasis on subjectivity and intersubjectivity, multiple self-states, generative enactment, and “thirdness,” compliment Jungian ideas of the prospective and the transcendent functions, as well as Bionian conceptions of reverie, “at-one-ment,” and dreaming-up the patient.

The workshop will include illustrative cases and detailed examination of clinical moments, as well as clarification of theory and comparative psychoanalytic study. The audience will have an opportunity to engage the speakers and participate in discussion.  Four hours of NYS Continuing Education will be provided.
