Global Studies Research & Engagement Awards
The Global Studies program continues to accept submissions for the Fall 2020 cycle!
At Global Studies, we want to create a space to reflect critically on what the COVID-19 pandemic will leave in its wake: the fears, the authoritative measures, or the moral panics as well as the forms of solidarity, the intimacies, and the alliances.
We are currently in a moment of crisis; but once over, how will we remember this pandemic? Or what will we choose to remember? What will become normalized and what will never feel normal again? What will be its leftovers, what will remain? And what will fade away?
Archiving—and other practices of remembering—are crucial to the work we do in our program; we choose not to forget and we hold ourselves accountable to the past and the future. As part of this process, we call for student submissions of any form (diary entries; essays; pictures; illustrations; films; research papers; audio-recording; twitter threads; etc…) that constitute a reflection on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and upon review, select submissions will be featured in the Global Studies Newsletter and other department materials and all submissions will be archived on a program hard drive for future research and posterity. Submissions will be selected for the Newsletter or inclusion in other materials by the program at its discretion. By submitting, students are granting the Global Studies program permission to use the submission in its materials.
*This application is open only to currently enrolled Global Studies majors and minors*
*If you’re unsure whether you qualify to submit, please contact us at GlobalStudies@newschool.edu
Submissions will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis.
