Please join us for a panel discussion with artist and New School faculty member Lize Mogel; artist Dylan Gauthier; and historian Diane Galusha, that explores how water infrastructure, watersheds and other water bodies connect communities.
Lize Mogel and Diane Galusha will discuss New York City’s water supply and its impacts on the Catskill region, and unpack the complex relationship between rural and urban communities of water supply residents and water consumers, respectively. Dylan Gauthier will discuss his recent projects on the Hudson River and in the Brandywine (PA) watershed. New School faculty member and chair of the Environmental Studies program, Timon McPhearson, will introduce the event.
The goal of this dicussion is to create new understandings of the impacts of water infrastructure (and related public policy) on communities at either end of a water system, and to explore the intersection of nature, policy, and infrastructure through critical spatial practices such as socially-engaged art and counter-mapping.
