National Academy of Science Highlights Urban Systems Lab’s Work

The Urban Systems Lab – directed by Dr. Timon McPhearson, Associate Professor of Urban Ecology at The New School’s Environmental Studies program and research faculty at Tishman Environment and Design Center – is an interdisciplinary research, design and practice space at The New School focused on improving life in cities where most of us live.

Among its numerous projects, publications, and vast recognition, the Lab’s NSF Funded URExSRN (Urban Resilience to Extremes Sustainability Research Network) project was most recently highlighted in a full-length feature story by the National Academy of Science. Additionally, the Lab’s work on the Nature Sustainability Expert Panel for the last year on the Science and the Future of Cities just came out with an Editorial, Executive Summary, and Full Report with 25 other key global urban scholars.
