Richard J. Bernstein is Vera List Professor of Philosophy at The New School for Social Research. He is the author, most recently, of Ironic Life (Polity, 2016), Violence: Thinking without Banisters (Wiley, 2013), and The Pragmatic Turn (Polity, 2010). Among his numerous other publications are Radical Evil (Polity, 2002), Freud and the Legacy of Moses (Cambridge University Press, 1998), Hannah Arendt and the Jewish Question (MIT Press, 1996), Beyond Objectivism and Relativism: Science, Hermeneutics, and Praxis (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1983), and Praxis and Action (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1971).
