Leonard Lawlor is Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of Philosophy at Pennsylvania State University. He is the author of From Violence to Speaking Out: Apocalypse and Expression in Foucault, Derrida and Deleuze (Edinburgh University Press, 2016), and Early Twentieth-Century Continental Philosophy (Indiana University Press, 2011). He has co-edited a number of essay collections, including (with Donald A. Landes and Peter Gratton) Between Philosophy and Non-Philosophy: The Thought and Legacy of Hugh J. Silverman (SUNY Press, 2016), (with Zeynep Direk) A Companion to Derrida (Wiley Blackwell, 2014), and (with John Nale) The Cambridge Foucault Lexicon (Cambridge University Press, 2014). In addition, he has published numerous essays on topics in continental philosophy, including most recently “Vulnerability and Violence: On the Poverty of the Remainder (or Beyond Kant),” Journal of the British Society for Phenomenology (2018), “Three Ways of Speaking: Deleuze’s Way, or Death and Flight,” Deleuze and Guattari Studies (2016), and “La passion noire,” Les Cahiers philosophiques de Strasbourg (2016).
