Bernard Flynn is Associate Teaching Professor of Philosophy at The New School for Social Research. He is the author of The Philosophy of Claude Lefort: Interpreting the Political (Northwestern University Press, 2005), and Political Philosophy at the Closure of Metaphysics (Humanities Press, 1992). He is co-editor (with Wayne J. Froman and Robert Vallier) of Merleau-Ponty and the Possibilities of Philosophy: Transforming the Tradition (SUNY Press, 2009). Among his numerous articles and essays are, most recently, “Political Theology in the Thought of Lefort,” Social Research (2013), “Political Theology and Its Vicissitudes,” Constellations (2010), and “Merleau-Ponty and Lévi-Strauss as Critics of Sartre,” Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal (2009).
