VIDEO: Agnes Heller awarded the second annual Courage in Public Scholarship Award

On July 16, 2016, the eminent philosopher and activist Agnes Heller, NSSR Professor Emeritus of Philosophy, was awarded the second annual Courage in Public Scholarship Award by the New School for Social Research Europe Collective at the 25th Anniversary Democracy & Diversity Institute in Wroclaw, Poland. Congratulations Professor Heller! The citation for the award was given by Prof. Judith Friedlander, former Dean of the Graduate Faculty, and a professor of anthropology at Hunter College, who is now writing a history of The New School for Social Research. The text of the citation can be read here.  At the same event Agnes Heller delivered the keynote address “From Utopia to Dystopia” at the Shrinking of Democracy Conference.

Agnes Heller is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at NSSR, former Democracy & Diversity Institute professor, and original signatory of the NSSR Europe Declaration which constituted the NSSR Europe Collective. She lives in Budapest, Hungary where she continues to work politically and continues to publish internationally renowned works.
