On July 21, 2017, Ewa Łętowska, one of Poland’s most prominent legal scholars and jurists, was awarded the 3rd Annual Courage in Public Scholarship Award by the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies (TCDS) and the NSSR Europe Collective. On the occasion, Prof. Letowska delivered a keynote address titled “The Rule of Law on the Peripheries of Europe” amidst mass protest in Poland over the ruling Law and Justice Party’s attempts to take control of the countries independent courts.
